Could Firms Do More To Help Staff Buy Homes
I was reading this articles about big firms helping employees buy homes. In my opinion that can only provide a minority of people with such help and i dont even think its a good idea after all. Remember companies are there to make profit. We should never forget that and all they do or invest on should provide them with a postive return. I will fisrt look at the financial institution like banks. Most of these used to provide decent mortgages to their employees and they would pay back the interest on a much lower interest rate. The reason they did it. It was because they were finacial intitution so it was there core business.
After all banks staff are even threatening to go on strike due to low pay. If they can not evenb afford to pay theire employees a decent salary, how can they afford to help them buy a house.
Moving on to other blue chip companies no company would really want to be involved in such things imagine Blue Ribbon, Delta, BAT or all the other companies now buying homes. This is not their core business of loaning money. What will happen when the employee leaves? These are all things to be considered. Only way forward to have decent interset rates and banks opening up to more people. I also think it is time we look at the materials we use as we can use cheaper raw materials to build homes and even porefab homes as i mentioned them here
